“I’m going to listen to you…We have your back.”
— Beto O’Rourke

As an astounding 66% of educators surveyed by Texas AFT said they have recently considered leaving their jobs, we are on the brink of a historic educator shortage. We need to elect candidates to office that will give educators the respect they deserve and entice them to stay in the profession with higher wages, more manageable workloads, and respect for their expertise and education.
Which is why Texas AFT is endorsing former El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke for Texas Governor. He has pledged to listen to educators and is committed to working to raise educator salaries. One in three Texas AFT members surveyed in November said their top workplace issue was salary. Almost half of educators surveyed said pay incentives like raises or retention bonuses would make them stay in their jobs. We need a candidate for governor that is speaking to our members’ primary concerns, and that is Beto O’Rourke.
Check out all of Texas AFT’s endorsed candidates for the March 1 primaries and cast your vote early from February 14 through February 25.
