Texas AFT’s Committee on Political Education (COPE), our union’s political arm, is proud to announce its second round of endorsements for the upcoming primary runoffs and 2024 general election.
Electing public education allies to office is of paramount importance, and we’re so grateful for our members’ work to do just that. Our union’s political advocacy is funded solely by voluntary donations from our members across Texas and purchases from our online store.

With May 28 primary runoffs quickly approaching and a November general election on the horizon, Texas AFT COPE is proud to add the following candidates to our endorsement list:

About the Upcoming Elections
Our members have told us that one of their biggest concerns is the lack of educator input into state-level policies like testing, school funding, licensure, and evaluation. And we have seen the results.
Teachers and school staff must participate in every level of the democratic process so they can have a voice at every table — at the school board, at the state Capitol, in the halls of Congress, and at the ballot box. Wherever decisions are made about us, they cannot be made without us.
That is why we must vote in the upcoming May 28 primary election runoffs. The voter registration deadline to vote is April 29, and the early voting period is May 20-24.
