Some $830 million in timely help for Texas school districts will soon be on its way to Texas school districts, thanks to the federal Education Jobs Act passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Obama last August. The state application for the funds has finally been approved, and today the Texas Education Agency published tables showing how much each Texas school district can expect to receive. You can see the numbers for yourself at this link: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&ItemID=2147500436&libID=2147500433. The money is available for use through September 30, 2012. It is supposed to be spent to save or restore school-level jobs for teachers and other school personnel involved in providing direct services to students and related support services (not central administration).
