Texas AFT is committed to holding one-on-one conversations with all our members this year, some 65,000 Texas school employees. Is that possible? And who will be doing the talking? Our local union leaders and staff will be doing much of the outreach. But you are the union as well, and we’d like to enlist you to have conversations with other members (and peers who aren’t members) and then offer your feedback on the value of the union and thoughts on our path foward.
Here are some primers for conversation:
- AFT Resolution on Member Engagement
- Secretary-Treasurer Ray McMurrey on the importance of one-on-one conversations
- Randi Weingarten’s column on a “Tale of Two States,” looking at the importance of unions for the middle class
