The Coalition for Community Schools and the Institute for Educational Leadership, together with the Family League of Baltimore will hold a Community Schools National Forum on May 2-4. The Forum is designed to bring together those who are partnering to implement community schools and those that have a vested stake in their success. This includes: parents, educators, students, community leaders, policy makers, service providers and many others. It is a space for people to learn new skills and build relationships that will help them move their work around community schools and address issues of inequality when they return home.
Dena Donaldson, Texas AFT statewide community schools organizer, and Ken Zarafis, Education Austin president, will facilitate a workshop during the the conference on increasing educator engagement, titled “Community Schools-Who’s Being Left Out?.” Their workshop will be Thursday, May 3rd from 4-5:15 p.m. You can register for the Forum here.
