The TEA Commissioner sent DISD a letter early in the school year advising the Superintendent that if the scores did not improve in either one of the four IR4 schools (C.F. Carr, J.W. Ray, Edison and Titche), he would oust the Superintendent and the School Trustees, replacing them with a board of managers. In response to the letter, DISD is planning ahead and the school board is scheduled to vote on the proposed plans in case the school scores do not improve.

Alliance/AFT has taken pro-active steps to make sure the Faculty and Staff at these campuses have priority transferring and transitioning in other campuses. As of printing time, Thomas A. Edison is the only one slated to close for sure. The district will have a better handle on the other three IR4 schools on June 15, 2018.
