The public comment window for social studies and the literary list remains open through June 15. We urge concerned parents and teachers to submit comments via the TEA website below and to contact your State Board of Education (SBOE) representative to provide direct feedback.

Several organizations have developed resources to assist with public comments. If this is your first time commenting on SBOE rules, they can help provide guidance.

Texas Rising and the Texas Freedom Network have put together a few virtual and in person events statewide. Register here for the following organizing opportunities:

  • Corpus Christi, June 9: Letter Writing

  • Virtual, Media Training, June 9 (noon and 7PM)

  • Virtual, Media training, June 10 (12:30PM)

  • Houston, June 10: Letter Writing

  • McAllen, June 10: Letter Writing

The Social Studies Advocate has put together a comprehensive review of all the proposed standards. You can read their analysis and dig deeper into their article on each grade band.

The SBOE will meet again in Austin June 22-26 to vote on these proposals. There will be another opportunity for testifiers to come testify on these items at that time.
