Who We Represent

Texas AFT represents all non-administrative certified and classified public school employees in traditional public schools. Our union also accepts employees in universities, colleges, and community colleges as members.

Our priorities reflect the interests of teachers, counselors, librarians, diagnosticians, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, nurses, teaching assistants, clerical employees, and the other employees who make our schools work.

Texas AFT also accepts charter school educators as members, with some changes to benefits. Give us a call at 1-800-222-3827 or email amp@texasaft.org for more information.
Texas AFT has over 30 local unions and organizing committees. For those without a local, Texas AFT provides full membership benefits through our Associate Membership Program. All non-administrative employees are eligible.
Texas AFT is proud to represent faculty and higher education professionals in community colleges and universities.
Texas AFT Retiree Plus is a powerful voice for retired educators and school employees. Membership is open to any retired school employee.
Free annual membership is offered for students completing their education degree or certification. Our members believe in the passion of others who wish to be a part of the teaching profession.
