Election Day tomorrow includes school board races and bonds measures

Local elections will be held tomorrow, May 5, across the state for cities, counties, school districts and other local government bodies. Consult your local school district’s website for more information on races and candidates. You also can find a list of local school board elections here: https://ballotpedia.org/Texas_school_board_elections,_2018.

If you do have a school board election for your district, and you are a Texas AFT member in district with a local union, be sure and contact that union for a list of endorsed candidates.

It’s also election day for 43 Texas school districts and dozens of cities, counties and community colleges that have bond measures up for a vote. Everything from funding new school construction to city animal shelters will be decided. You’ll have to do a bit of digging on the issues locally to evaluate each measure, but you can view a list of all bond proposals at the Texas Comptroller’s website.

For a list of polling places, visit your county’s website, and be sure to bring proper identification to the polls.
