Texas AFT represents all non-administrative certified and classified public school employees in traditional public schools. Our union also accepts employees in universities, colleges, and community and junior colleges as members.
Our priorities reflect the interests of teachers, counselors, librarians, diagnosticians, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, nurses, teaching assistants, clerical employees, and the other employees who make our schools work.
Texas AFT also accepts charter school educators as members, with some changes to benefits. Please give us a call for more information.
School support personnel — from nurses to cafeteria workers to bus drivers — make our public schools run. They are valuable employees and should be treated as such. All non-administrative school staff are invited to join our union.
Your experience in public education doesn’t end when you retire, and neither should your advocacy power. Our Retiree Plus program is open to any retired school employee and focuses on lobbying at the state level about the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
