National Day of Action against tax scam

Today will be a national day of action–spearheaded by AFT–against the Republican tax plans. (The House has passed its version of a tax bill, and the Senate is poised to vote on its version soon.) Protest rallies are taking place across the country today, including one at U.S. Rep. John Culberson’s office this afternoon led by members from Cy-Fair AFT and the Houston Federation of Teachers. Our members there plan to give Culberson’s staff an invoice for what would be the cost of losing the tax deduction teachers can get–up to $250 for school supplies purchased with their own money–in the House version of the tax bill. You can find out more info on the rally here.

We encourage you to read more about the tax plans then send an online letter opposing them to your senators and representative in Congress.

If you’ve already sent AFT’s online letter, we urge you to make a quick phone call to your U.S. senators and representative urging them to “stop the tax scam.” You can find out who represents you and contact information here.
