One Last Try for the DREAM Act

A key bill left for dead last week has undergone a resurrection, thanks to quick action by grass-roots advocates and their allies in Congress. The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the DREAM Act again as a brand-new bill—one that would gives thousands of immigrant children access to the higher education they need to contribute to our society. The latest word is that the U.S. Senate will vote on this bill tomorrow. The bill has bipartisan support, but previous versions have been blocked by a determined minority exploiting the Senate’s antiquated procedures. If the Senate passes the freestanding DREAM Act, it will finally become law!

Write to your senators TODAY, and urge them to pass the DREAM Act.

This is the homestretch. Now is the time to stand up for these students who have grown up in the United States and completed a U.S. high-school education—by giving them a chance to earn a college education or serve in the military, while also offering them an opportunity to become productive citizens of our great nation. (Only students who pass a background check would qualify.)

Tell your senators to support the DREAM Act. Don’t let the clock run out on these dedicated students. Let’s fulfill their hopes of living the American dream.
