Stand up for families by urging passage of a Dream Act

Last week the Trump Administration announced it was terminating Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for 60,000 Haitian immigrants living in the U.S.–giving them 18 months to self-deport to Haiti. This combined with the termination of TPS for immigrants from Nicaragua, Sudan and DACA leaves close to 1.5 million people vulnerable to deportation.

We need Congress to Act and pass a clean Dream Act and a permanent solution for individuals with TPS before the end of the year. AFT is working closely with UndocuBlack Network, United We Dream, immigrant rights groups and other partners on a legislative solution. Join us by contacting your representative today.

Here are three easy steps to stand-up for families:
1. Contact your representative and tell them to pass a Clean DREAM Act. It takes less than three minutes to send your online letter.
2. Thanksgiving may be over, but these tools will work for the entire holiday season. Share the Sanctuary Home and UWD Thanksgiving Toolkit, a guide to help families talk about DREAMers and the need for congressional action. Not everyone is ready to have the conversation, but this toolkit can provide some helpful tips.
3. Participate in the Dream for the Holidays letter-writing campaign spearheaded by We Belong Together. Visit, www.dreamfortheholidays.org.
