Today we highlight the upcoming November 6 election, with early voting beginning next Monday, October 22 and running through Friday, November 2.
Most of the policy and funding that affects our students and teachers directly is decided by our state Legislature, with additional funding and policy decisions made by the U.S. Congress. Therefore, it’s crucial that we step up and elect friends of schools who will fight for free, democratic public schools in our communities, as well as the resources and policies to help them thrive.
Today we’re listing our endorsed candidates on our website, along with some candidate profiles we’ve featured in the Hotline this month, voting information, and some of the important issues to consider in the election.
We highly encourage you to vote early and will be reminding you in our Hotline and on social media when early voting begins. Voting early helps avoid long lines, often gives you more flexibility on where and when to vote, and it ensures that nothing unforseen will happen to put a snag in your plans to vote on election day. And Monday, October 22, has been designated as “Educator Voting Day” by the organization Texas Educators Vote.
