Write your members of Congress and urge them to oppose this voucher scheme

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is at it again. Along with her friends from the Heritage Foundation and Republicans in Congress, she’s trying to push her failed voucher scheme on military families.
These voucher proponents are leading an effort to create “education savings accounts”—otherwise known as private school vouchers—for military-connected students. Bills to accomplish this have been introduced in both the House and the Senate.

Our public dollars should fund the public schools that serve the majority of our students, including students from military families.

Write your members of Congress and urge them to oppose this voucher scheme.

Military families don’t support this and are fighting back. Nearly 30 military and veterans’ groups have voiced opposition to this proposal, including the National Military Family Association, the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools, the Military Officers Association of America, the Wounded Warrior Project, and all branches of the armed services.
These groups recognize that reducing the federal funding for schools serving military families would be especially devastating, given that 80 percent of students from military families attend public schools.

Tell Congress to listen to what military families actually want—a high-quality public education.

Strong public schools are good for all students. Taking funding away from public schools to give it to private schools is bad for students and communities everywhere.
