Lawsuit against San Antonio ISD continues, although injunction to stop charter partner fails

The lawsuit against San Antonio ISD for violating the law in setting up a contract with a charter school to run a district elementary continues on after a state district court judge rejected the school district’s motion to dismiss the case Monday. The lawsuit was filed by our local affiliate, the San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel, and argues that the district failed to follow the law by having true consultations with teachers before contracting with the charter chain. However, the judge also rejected the Alliance’s request for a temporary injunction that would have immediately halted the contract with the charter school.
