San Antonio educator and Texas AFT member Adrian Reyna is running for the Texas House in District 125, which covers a large part of northwest San Antonio. As a longtime member and vice president of the San Antonio Alliance, representing San Antonio ISD employees, Reyna brings more than 15 years of education and labor experience to the table.
Reyna comes from a long line of public school teachers, which inspired him to become one himself. He teaches U.S. History in SAISD and has built his career around service, public education, and advocating for working families.
“I learned early on in my teaching career that my students’ and my success in the classroom is dependent upon things that happen outside of the walls of my classroom.”
Adrian Reyna, candidate for Texas House District 125
Reyna knows that in order to truly improve learning and working conditions, we have to fight for pro-public education representation at the state Capitol. As a member of the San Antonio Alliance, he has been active in organizing, taking part in significant victories since joining 15 years ago. He played a role in ensuring critical staff didn’t lose their jobs during a school closure fight, as well as securing compensation increases for all public education employees in SAISD. He is also an executive board member of San Antonio’s AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.
Now, Reyna is running for the San Antonio-area state House seat being vacated by Rep. Ray Lopez. Education is a central plank of his forward-looking, issues-based campaign.
Texas AFT COPE, our union’s political action committee, has proudly endorsed him; supporting Reyna means putting a public school educator, a San Antonio native, and committed union member in the Texas House. At a time when we are fighting the looming effects of further privatization and insufficient funding, Reyna offers a voice grounded in his own worthwhile experience fighting for and uplifting Texas students and educators.

We would like to thank retiring Rep. Ray Lopez for his many years of steadfast support for public education and opposing privatization.
Adrian Reyna is running in the Democratic primary for this seat, which is set for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The deadline to register to vote in the primary is Monday, Feb. 2.
