​’Gifts for Good’ needs your help to send soccer balls to the kids at Tornillo detention center

One of our friends in the Texas Legislature, Sen. José Rodríguez of El Paso, needsGifts For Good Tornillo our help to brighten the holiday season for kids in the Tornillo Detention Camp in West Texas.  There are currently 2,400 kids in the camp, most unattended minors seeking asylum in the United States–and the number is growing.

You will recall that AFT President Randi Weingarten came to Tornillo with toys, books, clothing and personal hygiene items this summer and was turned back. However, Rodríguez has been able to get permission to bring a soccer ball for each youth.

But Rodríguez is short on the number of gifts needed, so please help him meet his goal by helping provide a size 5 soccer ball to deliver. The deadline Thursday to complete the order is approaching fast. For more information on how to help, contact his office staff at:
